Campers Counselors and Parents
Ford (Water) – a chip on his shoulder and a criminal record. Abducted by pirates, sirens (mermaids) but eventually saves the day.
Aiden & Ember (Fire) – hopelessly and haplessly in love with each other. It’s a dysfunctional teenage romance that is tested by a talking volcano and burning cowboys. Sing “Don’t Leave me this Way” Brush up your burning disco.
Ophelia (Air) – A sarcastic aloof girl with a nonconformist hair color and an uncaring attitude but when she feels, she feels a lot. And makes friends with the wind and the King of the Air. Sings parts of “Ride Like the Wind” by Christopher Cross and “Learning to Fly” by Tom Petty. Apparently she an 80s rocker vibe deep down.
Willow (Earth) – younger girl who loves insects and gross things. She is kidnapped by the Goblin King which sets off the entire story. Sings “Don’t Bring Me Down”
Ricky (Night) – A character who thinks he knows it all especially about the supernatural grounds of the camp. He sings “Riders on the Storm” by the Doors then is bullied a little bit and eventually becomes the queen of the night’s zombie.
Cal – Camp Counselor, comically incompetent.
Muriel – the bus driver and swim coach. Not a ton of lines but that just makes her more funny.
Lauren – Willow’s Friend. Thinks logically under pressure.
Hazel – Willow’s Friend, grossed out by everything.
Scout – Willow’s friend. Curious and adventurous.
Junniper – Willow’s friend. Always panicking in the most dramatic way.
Other Campers – Sing “Soak up the Sun” and “We Belong” and the finale. Some become the Night Queen’s minions.
Ford’s Dad – At the end of his rope. A few lines.
Willow’s Mom and Dad – Mom has reasonable expectations, but Dad knows who his daughter is. A few lines.
Aiden’s Mom – Secretly praying for Aiden and Ember’s break up.
Ember’s Dad – full of amusing but unhelpful observations.
Riders on the Storm – 5 of them representing each of the realms. Scooter skills helpful.
The Earth Realm
Prince Sylvan – Puck-like character, pan flute player, tree and animal whisperer who sings harmony in “Kissed by a Rose”Woodland Creatures
Rock Giants – I f we an swing it, they will be wearing 5 gallon bucket stilts. Sing “I feel the Earth Move”
Wallace – a cute but treacherous slug. Actor will be a puppeteer.
Crawlies – Various beetles, bugs, centipedes etc.
Groos – The King of Decay. Kidnaps willow and sings ELO “Don’t Bring Me Down.”
Mother Terra – An earth goddess who sings “Kissed by a Rose”
Water Realm
WaterSprites – Ride in umbrellas and sing “Anything’s Possible.”
Sailors – Sing Styx “Come Sail Away” then get their butts kicked by pirates.
Pirate Queen – She rules with an iron fist.Pirates – Sing “Bad Guys” from Bugsy Malone. Who doesn’t want to be a pirate?
Sirens – AKA mermaids the kind that seem to lure men to their death….but….
Queen La Mer – Nearly drowns Ford, but then offers him mercy and redemption. Sings Sarah Brightman’s “Seven Seas”
Sea Creatures
Night Realm
Queen of the Night – Arrives in disguise and convinces Cal to leave the campers in her care. So, she kidnaps them while singing Pat Benetar.
Fire Realm
Sparky and Sizzle – The fire imps. Mischievously manipulating Ember and Aiden, sing “Fireflies”
Glowstick Dancers – Also sing “Fireflies” and creating beautiful glowing patterns in the darkness.
Burning Cowboys – Riding stick horses, singing Johnny Cash “Ring of Fire” and leading them to the volcano.
Smoky – A giant volcano puppet with a deep voice. Sings solo in “Ring of Fire”
Flaming Disco Queens – Think The Supremes in glowing orange outfits. Sing “Don’t Leave Me this Way”
Air Realm
Biker Gang – ZZ Top beards, goggles bikes with wings on them.
King of the Air – Rides around in a giant paper airplane and sings “Eye in the Sky” aloof from the world. Sees everything cares about nothing.
Air Sprits – Sing backup and fly kites.Windy – The Air King’s daughter. Desperate to touch something but she blows everything out of the say. Comic dance.
Trash – Covered in candy wrappers, newspapers and leaves, tumbling around and singing “Windy” by the Association. Great 60s tune. You should look it up.
Finale
Sun God or Goddess – A small child with big wisdom.
